What has happened in the last few months and what is coming!

The offices

We are happy to announce that our Calgary team will be moving into new offices around mid-October! It was important for Groupe Piché to bring our people closer to home and to adapt our space to the reality of the Western Canada market.

Yes, our Ottawa team will also be moving soon! Great news for the team who are cramped in our current office. The moving date remains unknown for the moment since we need to get the new office set up to our needs.

The Projects

The Calgary team will begin work on the interior system part of the Canmore Fire Station in November. This project consists of building a new station following the growth of the population and tourism of the town of Canmore. Indeed, the old building, built in 1986, no longer met the needs of citizens. The town of Canmore aims to make this a carbon neutral construction.

After several months of delay, the West Memorial Building project should begin shortly. The purpose of this project is to renovate the West Memorial Building to host the Supreme Court of Canada during the renovation of their building. The West Memorial Building is a perfect building for these functions with its 20 000 square feet. When renovation of the Supreme Court building will be completed, the West Memorial Building will be reused for long-term federal government office space. This contract of nearly $9,000,000 will be a major project in the Ottawa region for Groupe Piché for the coming years.

Fun fact, the West Memorial Building was built between 1954 and 1958 in honor of Canadians who served their country in World War II.

Our Boisbriand team has officially entered the STM’s new Bellechasse transit center. This $10,000,000 contract will be a major project for Groupe Piché for 2022 and 2023. The futuristic-looking building will become the first underground garage if its kind in North America and the first multi-storey transportation center in Canada. Located in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, the garage will house a significant portion of the STM’s 300 hybrid buses.

Our general contractor division began construction of the new Labelle municipal garage in September. The new building with an approximate area of 1058 square meters will be built on land adjacent to the current municipal garage which has a notable lack of space compared to the city’s needs.
